Perspective and Statistics

The US incarceration rate is supposed to be a little over 700 in 100,000; or somewhere between 0.7% and 1% of the population. It looks like my neglected Facebook account has a couple of hundred friends on it, which means that, statistically, one or two of you are in prison and I kind of want to hear that story. And since we’re talking statistics, one estimate I read gave a figure of about 200,000 for the number of transsexual individuals living in the United States. There’s like a dozen Victoria’s Secret models currently, so on the off chance the fucking idiot behind me in the checkout line this evening happens to come across this one day, know that it’s statistically much more likely you’ll end up in prison as Gina’s bitch than it is you end up with a model in a bejeweled bra. I wish you the best of luck, but the fact that you’re allowed to exist in society makes me weep for the future of humanity.
